Los Guájares contains 3 little villages (Guájar Alto, Guájar Faraguit and Guájar Fondon) in an unspoiled rural area, lying in a narrow valley that winds amongst orange, lemon, avocado, almond and olive trees.
Guájar Faraguit, with a population of 700 inhabitants, is the largest of the villages from here you can clearly see the remains of the Moorish castle a remnant of the Moorish occupations centuries ago. The village has a supermarket, bakers, health centre and bar/restaurant also the town hall and post office is located here.
The clean air filled with the smell of wild herbs, the tranquillity and the easy life style of the local farmers will put you into lower gear to enjoy this beautiful surrounding.
Hiking or biking possibilities are abundant or just have a walk and float away with your thoughts whilst enjoying the beautiful sceneries.
Want to have some action on 20 minutes drive, you are on the Mediterranean coast ( Costa tropical ) and find places like Salobreňa, Motril, Alumuňecar with its many bars end restaurants and typical flamingo shows.
On 40 minutes drive inland you reach Granada where you find the famous Alhambra, a mediaeval castle and fortress of the Moorish occupation.
Like skiing about one hour more and you are in the majestic Sierra Nevada where you will have lot's of skiing opportunities in the winter months.
